With First Communions falling on Pentecost Sunday it was tricky finding a balance between the feast day and the children's celebration. We made few concessions – we'd like to think our children can sing exactly the same stuff as the adults: we changed the post-communion song to This is my body, selecting the verse, Filled with my spirit, how you will grow, and used Paul Inwood's Glory, glory so that visiting adults could easily join in. This is the second year we've used Inwood's Litany of the Spirit – it's worth noting how such a quiet meditative piece can still draw the assembly together.
