Silent Night
Hark! The herald Angels sing
As is our custom, the Christmas Night Mass was a joint event for our three parishes. This year we were at St Anthony's Church on Scotland Road where snow and ice certainly contributed to the slightly lower numbers.
We were again joined by Jayne, Brian and Cameron (trumpets), Gaynor, (flugelhorn), John (trombone), Rona (flute) and Andrew (organ). What we would do without these wonderful people is beyond me – and they didn't appear too fazed at playing in the shadow of a 20-foot Christmas tree which had fallen down twice in the previous 24 hours!
It was a mixed congregation of parishioners, friends and passers-by who had dropped in. Nevertheless, they coped well with the new Alleluia, written especially for the occasion.
