We introduced a new set of Eucharistic Acclamations today – they are designed to carry the present text and to convert (smoothly, we hope!) for the new translation which comes into use in September. Having introduced it before Mass, I reminded the assembly of the melody by playing an instrumental version during the collection – followed by a silent Offertory. I suspect it felt new and strange but they certainly sang the Hosannas with gusto – and this melody comes back later as the Amen.
