Hail Redeemer, King Divine is THE Liverpool hymn – it was written in the 1930s for the laying of our cathedral's foundation stone – and is always sung with gusto. But it also has a pastoral verse about the Shepherd King. We've been using the Alleluia from You Sons and Daughters of the Lord to greet the Gospel each Sunday during Easter. The verses are by Marty Haugen and are written to correspond with each week of the season. Today's was perfect: "Call us, Good Shepherd, we listen for you.... we would the gate of salvation pass through".
