As I listened to the homily today, I wondered if I'd made the right musical choices. The Gospel was not about carrying a personal cross, in the way a sick person might have to – illness can be a heavy burden to bear but it's not a choice. The message was about choosing to carry a cross for the sake of Christ. And listening to the reading from Jeremiah, I do wish I'd thought about Löwenthal's And you pursue me – it would have been perfect.
