Today, we crossed the Mersey to sing at the funeral of Frank McCann, one of our great friends and supporters. Baptised and married at St Joseph's, Frank was one of the few remaining members of Bomber Command. His coffin arrived draped with the RAF Association flag which was then covered with the white pall. The final hymn began with the opening of the Dambusters March (on two trumpets, horn and trombone) and we sang the words God is our Strength and Refuge. Two verse later, Frank's procession was still making its way out as we segued into the RAF March Past. Frank would have smiled.
